Dan W. WHITE

I attended NTSU (now UNT) for one year then joined the Air Force. After just over 5 years in the USAF I came back to Garland and began working in a grocery store. After two years I began delving into the music industry. While playing weekends I was offered a job with the late Johnny Carrell (the Cellar) and Judy Lindsey (Miss Dodge of Texas). In 1978 I left the Johnny and Judy band and moved to Florida, returning to Texas in 1982. I continued playing drums part time and working in the grocery industry but in 1986 made a career change to the wholesale automotive parts industry in which I remained for just over ten years. I then started working for a manufacturer of frozen desserts from which I retired in 2006. During this time I was in a band with David Norfleet. Brownie Sherrill was with us briefly. I also worked with the late Orville Couch for about five years. Orville is the author of "Hello Trouble" and "His and Hers" among many other lesser known songs. I still play on occasion and plan to record some original songs in the near future (hopefully).

I recall having so much fun our senior year that I probably had my best attendance ever. The highlight of my day was to hear Mr. Moses say "All senior boys report to the Boys Gym", and to hear Fitzy say "Now come on guys, we gotta cool it". Also all the b.s. we fed M. L. Johnson about why everyone missed the same question and why they put the same wrong answer. I have to admit that once I deliberately put the wrong answer but when my test paper finally made its way back to me I erased the wrong answer and inserted the correct one. To this day I truly believe we had the tightest, meanest and best class to ever come out of Garland.
